Honors Photography
Art 140 (H), Autumn 2010
Honors Basic Photography of Autumn 2010 was a class of about thirty taught by a Ms. Erin Burns. The class included getting to know your camera, learning the basics of composition, pinhole and darkroom photography, photoshop and learning how your masterpiece holds more interpretations than, "this photo shows the artist wanted to get a good grade." Honors Basic Photography of Autumn 2010 was my first five credit non-Honors Math/Physics class in the three years I had been at the University. This unique trait and the love of photography that was born from it impel me to include this course in my portfolio.
My artifact is a compilation of pictures I took throughout the course. It's a collage showcasing the variety of objects I made my subjects, from the walls of Fremont to my stuffed dinosaur on a bench-- from the Market's famous Gum Wall to my friend wearing a paper bag over his head and pretending to pee on the side of a building. This class definitely stretched my mind and my courage to put myself out into the bustling world and take pictures of things mundane and obscure.
